Yes, an open source equivalent of Synergy, I do use "Barrier KVM" https://github.com/debauchee/barrier Ubuntu linux is the server and the macbook the client and PhpStorm is running on the macbook.

Thanks Dmitry, That did fix it, I thought it didn't because it took a long time for the ~~~~~~ to disappear.   Fixed for me now.  Thanks very much.
