For me, if I just open up an HTML file, it works. If you start to type a JavaScript function in the script tag, doesn't it show a completion? ctrl+space manually brings up the completion if it isn'...

Thanks! I downloaded the Outline plugin and am using it now. Looks pretty good, though not quite up to the standards of the tools built into PyCharm. :-)

I've also had PyCharm miss breakpoints, frequently.For all of its builtin tools, I love PyCharm, but for straight-up debugging, I actually fire up Wing and use its debugger.

At least as far as I can tell, PyCharm always thinks you're in some kind of project. That doesn't mean you can't use "Open Directory" on an empty directory, then open whatever file you want.
