Could you please use a screenshot to demonstrate the issue? Creating new directory in my environment seems working. Under "Sources Root" directory, it is new package instead of new directory.

Can't reproduce the same. When I placed the cursor at the end of the line, then hit "Ctrl + A", the whole line content was selected. Is it possible for you to share a video to demonstrate it?
