That corrected all but the tab issue. Still become difficult to close with x after the IDE is open for a period of time. Thanks.

All, first thanks for the quick reply. When I try to go to Settings | Appearance & Behavior | System Settings | Passwords I get a blank screen. For the second issue of the tabs not closing proper...
