We've gone back to using the maven idea:idea plugin rather than the maven integration in IDEA because of the generally awful performance.  Opening up projects and resynchronizing taking 20+ minutes...

Your navigation bugs sound similar to problems I had that were caused by an old version of the IDEA-vim plugin being installed.  Do you have any plugins installed that might not be completely updated?

The new EAP seems to have fixed the "make" issue, but not the need to manually synchronize after generate-sources.

I use a mix of Linux (Fedora 9) and Windows Vista, but I've been using Windows a little more lately. I just went and reconfirmed and it seems to only be a problem on Windows.

Do you happen to have IdeaVIM installed, even if disabled? It's known to cause a problem similar to this without a patch.

From my own experience with a similar problem, turning off IdeaVIM mode isn't enough, you need to completely remove the plugin. Not sure if this is actually your problem, but it was for me.

Do you know where my "create CPU snapshot" button has gone? It no longer appears on the toolbar as of several EAPs. This is on Linux (Fedora 9).

Actually, I may be blind, but I can't find the CPU snapshot button anymore.
