No worries -- I think we all understand how difficult it can be to narrow these things down.I finally uninstalled IDEA, then removed the install directory, the ~/.IntelliJIdea50, all traces of IDEA...

I'm seeing the CPU get pegged for 10-15 seconds after each edit to a file. Logged as http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEA-13087, which CPU snapshot.
