Never mind. I fixed this by increasing the Heap size from 700 MB to 2 Gig. Settings->Build->Compiler->Build Process heap size (Mbytes)

I'm seeing the indexing problem as well. In my case, it started after my anti-virus software quarantined these files, which appear to be internal to Intellij: :cd .IntelliJIdea2019.3/system/index/:...
