My issue was that F12 was only opening the Terminal, but not closing it. Also the default Shift + Esc would not close it either!Solved by enabling the option: Settings | Tools | Terminal | “Overrid...

Post is outdated. phpStorm, cannot do the first step “Help | Settings Summary”Find Action… searching for “Summary” does not find what's needed either. :-(
