TODO and Changes tab not updating

Hello, I'm having some trouble understanding if this is a bug or that I'm not doing something right. My TODO and Changes tab is showing the same number regardless of the changes I make. The TODO tab is stuck at the number 6 and the Changes Tab stuck at 9. I'm using an older version of IntelliJ (12) and I was wondering if this is normal behavior. I've attached a screenshot. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
