I am able to connect to HTTP URL when running behind a proxy, but not HTTPS URL. How to work with any URL that uses HTTPS protocol?

What version of IDE and what IDE are you using? The problem has been discussed in IDEA-2626, please take a look. You may also review logs (Help | Show Log in ...), possibly you can find a clue there. If you continue experiencing problems - please comment on IDEA-2626 and provide some details on how you're trying to setup connection.
