PyCharm 2017.1.4 freezing in OSX at random times.

I suspect the problem isn't specifically with PyCharm but possibly the java install. Not really sure how to go about finding the problem.
The application freezes at different times, sometimes it is on the loading spash screen, other times it is just as the IDE opens but the last open project isn't displayed yet. Other times it freeze after I've been working for 30+ minutes on it.

I had a very similar issue in 2017.1.4 and it continues after updating to 2017.1.5. I don't have any issues getting into the ide, but randomly (4 times today thus far) I'll attempt to paste after copying some code, or in one instance carriage return to enter additional code, and the IDE will freeze. I have to kill it via Task Manager.
