Pycharm (Community Edition) downloaded from China has a different checksum

已回答

Version 2017.2.1

The one downloaded from China has a SHA256 of a3a25a3a995ba0712254554a7d680f81f139978aaaa2334b3c40c8cc82340489 instead of 48a3005c05ea2576befab48c4ab0c37c17a795903c46fe5162f59595ce503cbe as stated in the checksum file.

I ran the file from a virtual machine and no suspicious actions were found. But then the 2 executable were signed at different times. The one downloaded from China were signed at 6:63: of 4th of Aug. 2017. The one downloaded using a VPN to Europe (and resulted in a correct checksum) were signed at 23:42 of 9th of Aug. 2017.

Installed program also showed that the one downloaded from China has a build no. of 172.3544.44, but the one downloaded from Europe has a build no. of 172.3544.46.

So that means the one downloaded from China is not tempered albeit a older one. However, that could cause a lot of confusion and fear after the XcodeGhost malware. Can someone please correct it?

Hi Hyper! There was a bug discovered in 172.3544.44 so it was quickly fixed and the new build was uploaded in place (172.3544.46). You probably managed to download the old one before it was removed and new one was uploaded on server. Right now it should be 172.3544.46 everywhere.

Hi Pavel,

Thanks for the quick reply. That was also what I'm guessing and it would explain everything. However, I tried again after got your message and the check sum is still a3a25a3a995ba0712254554a7d680f81f139978aaaa2334b3c40c8cc82340489. Is there a distribution network causing this issue?

Could you please specify the website you are using to download PyCharm?

Yes. Here's the URL I've been using:

https://download.jetbrains.com/python/pycharm-community-2017.2.1.exe

Prior to post this, I tried again and still get the older version.
