Mapped Shared Folder is locked

 As the Title shows, I cannot work on a project that is to be on a shared Folder.

I understand that the IDE does not support UNC paths.  But was under the impression that a mapped folder would work.

I don't care if it needs to be cloned or what ever.  Just need it to work.

I am pretty fresh to Windows, and don't know my way around it well, so a complete explanation would be appreciated.
