Autoscroll to source failing in Project View

I've noticed Autoscroll to source isn't working in the Project View (IntelliJ EAP IDEA 2017.3.1, macOS 10.13.1).  By "isn't working" I mean a mouse double-click is required to edit a selected file. Single clicks do change the path shown in the navigation bar, but not the file open in the editor/buffer (I have tabs switched off, so there's only one of the latter).

I only use Autoscroll to source for occasional specific purposes, so can't be sure whether this is a new issue or not. I've tried it on a variety of projects of different types (javascript, kotlin, java), and it fails on all of them.

I did a quick search in JetBrains' Youtrack, but didn't come across anything.
