Deleting selected text in PyCharm

Hi,
I've been having trouble with deleting my selected code using backspace.
Every time I try to delete using backspace, it just adds one more letter to the highlited code.
How do I change it? it really bugs me :(

The question here is simply how to delete selected text using the backspace button rather than selecting more text? The d button deletes the selection but it's hard to get used to..

Do you have Vim Emulator enabled under Tools?
If yes, please disable it and try again.
