Stop Uninstall PyCharm popups

Hello,

This is quite an unusual problem. Please do Windows + R, enter shell:startup , and check if there is a link to the PyCharm uninstaller. If it is there, please remove it and check if the problem persists.

Hello Daniil…  Appreciate the response. The she:startup folder only has a desktop.ini file. No reference to PyCharm. 

For the record, I initially installed the community edition of PyCharm, but shortly thereafter uninstalled, and then installed the professional version. The messages started popping up after that.

This same thing keeps happening to me as well.  It is very frustrating.  In my case, I have only installed PyCharm Community Edition, not Professional.

For example, this dialog popped up for me today:

As best as I can tell, it seems that PyCharm tries to uninstall itself any time that a newer version of PyCharm Community Edition  becomes available (although the dialog makes no mention of that at all).  Today, I decided to click the "Uninstall" button on the dialog, to see if it would install the new version after uninstalling the old one.  But it didn't;  it just left me with no version of PyCharm installed at all.  I had to download and install it again manually.
 

This just started happening to me today on both of my computers. I think you're right that this is a bug in the update notification flow. I'm on 2024.1 and 2024.1.1 was released a couple days ago.

I checked my startup folder and nothing pycharm related in there.
