Close unmodified tabs but keep new files

When i have too many open editor tabs i click on a tab and choose “close unmodified tabs”. Intellij indeed closes all the unmodified tab (compared to the latest git commit) , but in addition it closes all the new files, that were not added to git yet.
Is there a way to make intellij keep the new files editor tabs when clicking “close unmodified tabs”? actully to me it looks like a bug, and this should be the default behaviour, because normally you just want to work on the changes since the last commit, including the new files.

Feature request is welcome at https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/newIssue?project=IDEA as it's not supported at the moment.
You can pin new files as a workaround.

I started to open a bug report, and discovered that this bug was already reported several times (2 duplicates) seems to be introduced on a version from 2016, and for some reason it is still opened 7 years later
