New UI: Where are the Git Toolbar Icons? (Update/Commit/Push)

已回答

Hi,

I wrote a guide for beginners working with JetBrains IDEs and GitHub. It used the old UI, so now I need to update it.

With the New UI, I cannot see where the Git toolbar icons are any more.

They looked like this in the old UI:

Does the New UI have these? If so, how do I enable them? I have tried View→Tool Window→Git but that's not the one. I have also looked  under View→Appearance but not seen anything, I may have missed it though.

Also quite irritating that with the New UI, the Git branch  seems to be by default disabled from the status bar (I found how to enable that though).

Anyone know how I can get back those three Git toolbar icons, if I'm using the New UI?

Many thanks.

Hello,

There is related issue on YouTrack: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-307184

You may add them manually using “Customize Toolbar” action from right-click menu on main toolbar. Select “Add action…”, find needed one and then move it to needed position (e.g. after "VCS Group“).

3 years after the issue and nothing changed, I never thought I would use other tools, but since there is no proper fix and it seems JetBrains UI team took this decision for a reason that I can't understand, now I'm seriously thinking of moving to other IDEs, unfortunately…

Hello senouci.reda.

While the issue is still being tracked, you can still apply the workaround mentioned earlier — you can manually add the Git actions using the “Customize Toolbar” option (right-click on the main toolbar → Add Action… → search for the desired Git actions and place them where you prefer).

If you need any further assistance with this, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
