Verifying that Settings Sync works

Hello.
I have two computers, one for work, one at home. Both have the same IntelliJ version installed, along with Settings Sync enabled.
I recently upgraded both installations to version 2023.3.2.
I was relying on Settings Sync to work, but somehow when I visitited my work computer, when enabling the Settings Sync, it did not seem to have worked at all. The window layout etc. wasn't loaded/changed.
Now I exported the settings to file and reimported them on the other machine.
I wonder:
How can I make sure that Settings Sync is working, also given, that in the lower right corner, the Settings Sync icon is no longer available/visible on both IntelliJ's. I know some icon used to be there in IntelliJ 2022.3.2 …

Could you please make sure you use the same JetBrains Account (
Help | Register…) for both PCs? Otherwise, the settings will be synced to the different accounts.Please note that the windows' layout is not synchronized by the Settings Sync. We have a corresponding feature request to implement this functionality.
Please note that we have reworked the Settings Sync plugin, and there has been no indication since the 2022.3 release. You can check if the synchronization is enabled in the
Settings | Settings Syncwindow.
