after having numerous issues with git post latest ITJ updates, I wasn't surprised to see a new git plugin being distributed.
However the attempt to install it was problematic as multiple attempts it was blocked since of course other instances were using it.
After shutting down all other intellij instances and git bash terminals that I could find, I'm guess it must have finally installed… as a byproduct it blew away my taskbar shortcut, so I'm assuming it was more than a plugin but an actual update to my git installation?
Can someone provide details on what this upgrade did?

Did you upgrade the git version itself? Which was the previous version and which one do you have installed now?
Which taskbar shortcut do you refer to?
I did nothing. Whatever happened was done exclusively by the itj git update. The taskbar refers to the shortcut to bashgit on my windows taskbar.
