Pycharm evaluate expression doesn't plot figures in debug mode on Mac M1

I have the latest community edition of pycharm and matplotlib plots do not show when I try plotting inside evaluate expression during the debug mode. I noticed this recently and I use a mac M1 (updated to the new OS) also the pycharm is updated to the new stable version.
So, please let me know what is wrong here.
