Cancelling subscription vs cancelling subscription renewal

Hi, I just cancelled subscription renewal. It was renewed automatically 2 days ago. I'm not using my private license any more.  Will I get my money back If I cancel subscription? If not, then what is difference between those two options? If I cancel subscription I will just loose my subscription for that month I just (auto)payed and that's It? What is logic behind two different options. In most cases on many platforms, cancelling sub means cancelling renewal (It's common case). Here I't must be different because those options are two separate options?
Please explain.
