show file in sidebar

Is there a way to do this that I'm not seeing? I want to be able to see where the file I'm currently editing is in the file navigation sidebar.

Yes: Navigate -> Select In -> Project View. This action also has a keyboard shortcut (OS-dependent).

In addition to the aforementioned approach:

  • In Project View panel
  • Click on "cog" icon to bring it's submenu
  • Activate "Autoscroll from Source" option

Found en even better way, 8 years later. Double click the tab you're on in pycharm above the editor and you'll get the file directories sidebars. idk how to spell directories

Another Easy way is to

  • Click on "Settings" gear icon on top-right on project navigation
  • Select "Always Select Opened File"

Press Shift twice to open the search window and type  Always Select Opened File

Turn it ON
