Editing Existing Code vs. Entering New Code

I find the automatic insertion of balancing punctuation such as close parentheses, brackets and quote marks to be very disruptive when I'm editing existing code instead of entering new code.

I would like to see this behavior not occur when there are any non-blank characters to the right of the cursor (on the same line).

Sorry, that's not the way it works. It has been working on unbalanced parenthesis for ages in Java, and I woul prefer if it were the same in Groovy.
