how to manual stopping make in intellij idea

hi,
     i am facing a problem when i want to stop make my project with intellij idea
when i click  "background task " at the buttom and try to stop make,but it doesnt' work and  i cannot continue to make project  because the stopping make task has not stopped
what i can do is kill the idea process,and restart it,oh no ....
if u meet this problem plz tell me
