Artifacts and facets

Am I correct in thinking that the concept of an Artifact and Facet are only relevant if one uses the internal build mechanism?

If one uses gradle then these concepts are redundant. Is that correct?

Hello,

Artifacts and facets are terms from IJ domain. Gradle defines its own domain for describing the same things.
