Please fix problem with CVS hanging the whole IDE

I had a very embarrassing incident at a customer's site today.
My macbookpro was hooked up to a projector with a roomful of people watching.
I opened a project that's using CVS.
But because I wasn't on my company's network, Intellij couldn't reach our CVS server.
As soon as the project is opened, the whole IDE hangs waiting for network timeout.
It was the longest minute of my life before the network timeout and the "Work Offline" dialog came up.
Not only was that embarrassing for me, that can't reflect positively on Intellij either.
Please fix this.
