Commit Button in IDEA 11 - can we have a real button again?
hi, i've been doing alot of commits recently, and its getting rather annoying to have to hover over the commit button to get a menu, then select click on the menu to commit.
Commit has gone from a 1 simple click to 3 steps - a hover, a find on menu and navigate to it, and then click. 3 steps!!
Please, can we put back the old commit button and increase developer efficiency again...?

If you just need to commit, just click the button. The menu needs to be used only if you want to use an alternative commit method, such as remote run.
ok, if i just click nothing happens. If i press my mouse button many times quickly, the commit will initiate.
i dont want to press a button N rapid-fire times just to press it. can yuo make it act like a normal button (i dont care if that popup happens), i just want, what looks like a button, to be clickable with 1 click.
can yuo make it so that 1 click on the button will work?
and if we really want to get into it - i want the remote run button back as well. why is it hidden in a tiny menu? why make things more difficult?
If the button doesn't work when simply pressed, it's a bug which will be fixed. At the moment we don't plan to restore separate buttons for each of the commit actions.
Dmitry, its build 117.84, youre FINAL 11.1 RC and this issue still exists.
i think i need to go take some blood pressure medication, because this is unbelievable!

Settings | Appearance | [ ] Allow to merge buttons on dialogs
ok, i found the workaround. Blood pressure relieved!
http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-77866 Settings--> Appearance --> "Allow to Merge buttons on dialogs".
I unchecked that and the buttons are back.
but i should suggest better english:
"Allow to merge buttons on dialogs" should say something like. "Allow merged dialog buttons" or "Allow buttons to be merged on dialogs"

An alternate approach is to just set a keyboard shortcut for your VCS's commit operation.
I have Ctrl+K set for my SVN checkins, and never even bother with anything else. (-:
