[IDE Layout] Is there any way we can break away from a Tabbed Window IDE?

use split tab for split view, just grab the tab and drop it somwhere and it will be in another window...

Yes, you can drag a window out of the IDE. There's no setting for that: just
click and drag.

This may be a setting but I was wondering if there's an option to
treat the IntelliJ IDE like a MDI interface - like Excel, so I can
drag windows around, see files side by side and work quickly doing
this, perhaps double a titlebar to maximise, etc.

Ideally, it'd be great to drag a tab/ window out of the IDE itself so
I can use both my monitors.

Is anything like this possible?

It's not working for me... i can drag files from the 1:Project tool to the desktop but that' no good, I want to drag a Tab onto my screen 2 and/ or view all my open files as non-tabs (like Excel).
