JetBrains IDE bundle?
This is more of a sale question than a technical one, but it might be nice to hear more voices on this: How about selling a "JetBrains IDE Bundle"?
I know a full IDEA license is supposed to give you everything, since the other IDE's are also released as IDEA plugins, but with every IDE being developed on an independent release schedule, this means that sometimes it takes quite some time for the plugins release to catch up, specially during EAP. Using separate IDE's also allow me to use a different set of plugins, templates and settings for each language.
As a consultant, I work work regularly with many languages -- Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, Objective C -- all of them well served by JetBrains IDEs. I've acquired all of them as the IDEs were released, to show support to JetBrains and to access shiny new features before they trickle down to the IDEA plugin, but all those licenses are starting to get costly. So, how about a "bundle" license that gives me access to all IDEs for a discounted price?
Anyone else here feels the same need, or am I alone in this?

i kinda assumed that a full idea license would/should include everything else as well
It kind of does. The functionality in the other IDEs are eventually released as plugins for IDEA. The problem is that this process takes time, sometimes quite a long time... when it is possible -- sometime the dedicated IDEs are based on a newer platform version and can't be fully released to the current IDEA version.
I think it is a good suggestion. Maybe even have a bundle that includes Resharper too.
I have the same situation. I work with different languages and Idea is the best choice for me, but with "asynchronous" language support it looks not so cool :(
Yeah, I was considering buying a personal licence for the full IDEA instead of just going for PyCharm, but because I was part of the PyCharm EAP programme, I've seen how quickly it evolves and annoying bugs that I have problems with get fixed. IDEA by contrast lags behind quite a lot, and as my main language for now is Python I just can't afford it :-/
Hello...
I too am looking at the full IDEA license. Most of what I need can be had between phpStorm IDE and the intellij community edition, but I'd prefer to have the ultimate edition. In fact, I was just about ready to purchase the full IDEA license when I read this topic.
How long generally (approximately) for plugins for the full IDEA IDE to catch up with the individual IDE? Weeks? Months?
This is of concern to me as well. I am primarily interested in PyCharm/PHPStorm but am tempted to buy the full IntelliJ IDEA product. Remote Python debugging doesn't work in the full product but it does in PyCharm. I also want to see Mako template support which will hopefully be in the next PyCharm release. It will be very frustrating to buy IntelliJ IDEA and then find that important (to me) features are available in the specific IDEs but possibly months away from being implemented in the 'flagship' product. I have tried the EAP IntelliJ IDEA 10.5 but there doesn't seem to be a compatible PyCharm plugin for it.
Just wanted to comment that right now their sale is 50% off. That makes PyCharm $50 and its ilk dirt cheap.
Well, that's not the point...
I know, just thought I'd mention it, since you can essentially create your own bundle right now for normal price of an IntelliJ license
