I was about to write the same. I prefer to see the project view as a tree, and the new collapsing of empty middle packages saves me a full half-inch of horizontal space on an average projet. Very sweet.
Yes, nice feature indeed, but the alphabetical ordering is broken when collapsing is switched on (watch your packages move up and down depending on this setting)
