9.0.2 sort of sucks...
So I upgraded to 9.0.2 and it sort of sucks - really buggy. Has anyone else noticed. I am a bit surprised as Jetbrains usually produces high quality stuff. I am on a Mac and the tool tips are completely wacked. When you hover over anything which used to show you what it was, only a partial scroll bars is displayed. On the left side where you can see the code inspections, if you hover over one of them, sometimes it shows HTML.
Other issues:
- Quitting the program just causes it hang requiring a force quit.
- After launching IntelliJ, it wont open any of the files in the editor.
Thanks,
Bryan

Slight correction, should read, "On the right side where you can see the code inspections", not left.
I think the quality has gone way down since the move to open source. It's too bad; I'd guess there just aren't the resources and that people aren't willing to pay for idea.
I'm such a champion of idea, but I've been eyeing eclipse.

But that's also Open Source.

I'm not exactly sure if a move to eclipse would improve anything. From
what I have seen Eclipse tends to be a real PITA especially when you
come from IntelliJ where things usually just work. But then again this
is not going to be a flamewar Eclipse vs Idea. I think if there are
issues with 9.0.2 they are to be fixed and they will be fixed.

Using 9.0.2 on Snow Leopard:
q:~ kork$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_17"

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.3-b01-101, mixed mode)
No issues so far. Which java version are you using?
Hello Christopher,
Just to make things clear, the move to open-source hasn't had any negative
effect on the sales of IntelliJ IDEA, and didn't cause any reduction of the
IntelliJ IDEA team.
And of course, talks of "quality going way down" are completely useless and
unsubstantial without references to specific problems you're experiencing
(preferably with links to YouTrack issues).

I have no particular issue using 9.0.2 on Windows.
This comment also applies to most of the EAP releases.
Been paying a personal license since 7.0 and happy to
Using 9.0.2 on Windows XP, WIndows 7 and Red Hat Linux and it's a fantastic build in my opinion. Just my personal experience of course
I have been using IDEA for many years now and 9.0.2, in my experience, hasn't detracted from the impression of a best of breed product.
I also am running on Mac(10.6.3) (aswell as Windows) and have not had any problems.
What is your environment? Any dodgy plugins installed?
I am on the same versions:
[cosmo] ~ > java -version
java version "1.6.0_17"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04-248-10M3025)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.3-b01-101, mixed mode)
I went ahead and essentially re-installed IntelliJ by clearing the cache, removing all preferences and plugins as instructed. After doing so, I hit the Groovy/Grails issue - where it complains about the missing *_HOME env settings. Thing is I dont use Grails so I didnt install the default plugin. Maybe that is my issue - thinking that it would make my installation a bit leaner and the fact that I dont use 80% of the default plugins, I disable them.
Anyway. To be clear, I have been using IntelliJ since 2001/2002 and am a HUGE fan and advocate. All other IDE's pale in comparison and even with hiccups, it would take a lot for me to abandon it. With all that said, I am just a little surprised that my own 9.x experience has not been up my expectations.
Also, I do want to make one note - Jetbrains support is pretty kick ass. I was very happily surprised when I got a reply to my support email within a few minutes. That is what I call kick ass customer support! Especially it todays age.
I was trolling through the log files, and there does seem to be a large number of stack traces. Hopefully now that I basically re-installed it, maybe they will go away. I will let you know.

Is this issue reproducible? In this case, could you post your project
files (.idea, *.ipr, *.iml, *.iws) here?
