Settigs: Default vs. Classic

Out of curiosity, how many use the Classic view and how many
use the Default view for IDE & Project settings?

I think the Default View looks good but is not very usable. I
go through settings a lot faster with the Classic View.

I use the default view.

Right now I am using the Classic view as I find the single window to be more productive. As long as you make said window really big.

Default view is so much faster to use. It doesn't take 20 minutes to load (loading the last panel which isn't likely the one I will be editing the next time).

Not any more. Each panel is loaded on demand.

I prefer the default view. Don't like the long vertical scrollbar -
taste, I guess. (No! Let's not start this discussion again! Everyone's
happy now, right? ;)).

Classic.
I am really pleased they gave us the alternative.

Classic - I like the vertical scrollbar better than the horisontal :)

Classic definitely, I hate the default one so I'm really glad we have the option.

Default view.

But I very rarely use the settings view at all after the first time - i.e. I don't change my settings once they're set.

I guess that's why I don't understand the "productivity" argument that this issue always seems to raise.

But with each new EAP build I just reuse the setting from the previous
one, so I don't spend much time there...

+1 for default. Tried Classic yesterday and got annoyed. heh... go figure.

Classic. It just fits my brain better, plus there's less clicking if you're just browsing around your settings (e.g. showing some things to a coworker).

I do wish the positions of the "IDE" and "Project" tabs in classic view were swapped (so that "IDE" would be on the left), but I can live with it.

I'm using the classic view.

Very interesting, really :)

Just with the few answers we got:
- Total: 23 votes
- Classic: 15 (65%)
- Default: 8 (35%)

I was really expecting everyone to use Classic.

In response to Mark:

It's just because we're so happy with the rest of IDEA that
we can't find anything more important to talk about than the
settings panel :)
(actually, nobody has talked about the Commander in a while)

Classic. I like the single Dialog.

I use the same design for settings dialog in my own applications.

Default. Perhaps being a Mac user makes it seem more natural.

I like seeing all the options at once.

Yes, this is fairly similar to the layout of the "System Preferences" application in Mac OS X.

i'm on the mac but like the classic better.
the default view would be true mac like if it didn't popup yet another window. perhaps i would use it then.

I'm sure, some people are too lazy to switch to Classic or even did not
find the button.

Both.
Every couple of days I switch between modes.
(I really like both views.)

I tend to prefer the new default actually. My configuration dialog is
rather small, and looks clean when in its own window, but in classic, its
stretch out and HUGE.

Not very sightly.
