Using just the Tab as completion character?

This might be rather disruptive.

I really like Ctrl+Space resulting in "smart" completion. It reduces so much of typing! Sometimes though, I do wonder if the key mapping that should trigger smart completion should be the Tab key which is used as completion character at other places. I know, we use Tab for certain functions (e.g. alignment), but that usage can be distinguished from the developer's "intent" of completion. No?
