957 : unable to work with it :(

Hi, I'm sorry, it's impossible for me to work with this build,
since I cannot debug or run my project (I have a stacktrace each time I
try), so I'll go back to 944

0

I don't get a stacktrace but remote debugging still doesn't work. It keeps
jumping into URLClassLoader and other random classes that I know nothing
about as soon as I start the debugger.

This is a show stopper for me (has been for serveral builds now), so I also
have to go back to older versions... very sad. :(

And I would tell that I use the zipped version on Windows 2000 and my
install is completely clean, all settings and systems are in the Idea folder

debugging locks up for me too.

Thats weird - theres always one who just can't use it... I'm finding this
to be the most stable EAP yet...

I've been doing remote debugging all day, with glorious hotswapping ( very
lovely ).

Mark,

Do your code style settings work for you - ie do they get saved? I have
managed to clear up the debugger problem by wiping out my old installations
including cache and settings folders and reinstalling from scratch. It now
works 'gloriously'!! I just need code style settinge to be saved and I will
be well away. I can also say (now that I have debugging back) this is indeed
the most stable EAP to date. I love being back in the game!! :)

well, after a clean reinstall (wiped out IntelliJ directory, but not the Settings in my Home Directory) everything seems to be working fine again. puh
Maybe the update from 944 is broken or something

btw: I'm using Windows XP Pro, .exe Installer

This problem was already discussed. Occasionally Any Exception Breakpoint was turned on in build #939 or even earlier. Just turn it off.

I'm using follow upgrade from 944, work well for me :)

Sorry, there is a bug with running/debugging applets.

Yes my project is an applet, but I cannot see the dialog to run it, the
trace came before. Is it the tab that do not work ?

You were right, I removed them and I can click on run and reconfigure my
applet, and it works fine now. I posted the configs I removed in my bug
report http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/viewSCR?publicId=19215

Same here. 939, 944 and 957 are unusable for me - even after wiping
caches and recreating projects - just like the builds at Aurora's
beginning :(

Hoping for better next build(s).

Sure there isn't something else going on here? I have been able to use
all of these builds.

You do not get/got exceptions at startup? You have a fairly mid-size
project (approx. 3500 classes with a couple of libraries,
desktop-application)?

I have the following and get/have not got any errors on startup:

1000 classes
5 modules
20 libraries
Desktop & J2EE application.

For me, build 957 is totally unusable performance-wise. It's a huge step backwards from 944. Debugging is particularly slow. Our app is ~5000 classes.

I did, but that was due to partially parsed JAR files. Did you clear
out the "jars" directory in the IDEA system directory?

Now things are working again.

Hmm, well I've not changed my code style settings since updating so not
sure, but will try changing them when I get to the office and see what I
find.

The only exception I was getting on startup was caused by an older version
of the regex plugin, which is now all fixed...

Sounds just like my project and I'm going fine with 957 (touch wood)

Thomas,

Have you verified that you have no exception breakpoints set? I thought build 944 was unusable for debugging but sometime during the installation "break on any exception" was enabled. (I didn't do it!) Result was that the debugger would break in some weird place like URL or other java.lang class. Disabling the breakpoint made everything work again.
