I'm on strike!

Right that's it. I'm refusing to write any more code until I get a new eap. It's my version of a hunger strike. I'm not sure how I'm going to explain this to anyone paying me to work, mind you.

Hahaha. Its funny how waiting for new EAPs make coding more fun at work. Its
like candy and if you can't get new candy then its not as fun to do work. I
agree playing around with new builds make coding much more fun :). That is
why I am in EAP as well! :)

Hey that's my idea when I was beating up on Apple to get them to spit
out JDK builds... never really worked but hey... makes us feel better.

Acutally they're on a roll fixing a boat load of JSP bugs, so please
don't make them jerk the chain just yet, and let them spit this stuff
out with it :)

AWESOME! I definitely do not want to rush them. I rather have a good build
than them releasing an unusable one and then having to read through
complaining threads :D

Sounds like ultimatum :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. I check the site each day with hopes for a new EAP build. Checking out the latest features and fixes makes coding much more interesting. I don't know what I'll do once 4.0 is released!

0

Two options always present themselves at every new release:

1) Whine about the next EAP and when it's about to start.
2) Whine about how you're dissapointed in release X, and feel it's not ready for prime-time, and how cruel the IDEA guys are for not fixing insert random bug and not adding insert random feature.

Those two things usually provide enough entertainment and filler material for the few months in-between EAP cycles. Of course, once the new EAP starts, then we can all switch to it, then start complaining about how it doesn't work and has useless new features.

I'll join you if they get to 400 issues address before the next release.
They are about 320 right now which seems like an EAP record.

this is my first eap so i have not seen these patterns yet. What is going to happen when 4.0 comes out? Are eap users going to slip into depression until the next eap starts?

Something like that. :)

Oh god - new EAP people, if he's not coding - he'll start blogging more :)

Bitch and whine untill 4.1 is released? And ask when the new 5.0 EAP will
start? :)

It's something like this:

4.0 out:
- Whine about the end of EAP. Newspapers report a suddenly increased consumption of coffee, cigarettes and grass.
- Threads contemplating the features needed for 5.0. Thousands of posts per thread. Some threads implode to black holes.

Features for next release become known:
- Complain about the lack of feature X. Suicide threats.
- Grumble that so many people vote/ask for feature X, which is absolutely useless. Requests for anti-votes. Homicide threats.
- Gripe about the bloat. Feature Y must go!
- Thank the developers for including feature Y. Marriage offers for the female Jetbrainers.

First EAP:
- Complain about instability. The last build before GM was much more stable!
- Throw a fit over the implementation of feature Y, because it's not perfect. Some people also wonder why Jetbrains hasn't solved world hunger yet.

No no no... Hani's blogging comes from his disappointment from his own or other people's code. If Hani's not coding, he will not find material to amuse himself and blog out it.

By the way: I'm with him, I'm not coding either. EAP NOW!

Each day? These last couple of days, I am checking every hour! (Somehow feeling like an addict...)

Somehow this sounds like feature request 9634 (http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/viewSCR?publicId=9634 ) which BTW is still open.

Come on, JetBrainers, PLEASE implement this in 5.0 ;)

Jens

shouldn't there be something about eclipse or jbuilder in there?

0
Avatar
Permanently deleted user

Not JBuilder, but there should be much wailing and gnashing of teeth about how if feature XXX isn't implemented, then IDEA will fall behind the technology curve, and be replace by Eclipse. Many statements of the form "I love IDEA, but if it doesn't do XXX I'll have to go to Eclipse, which is free."

I will say in advance that all such statements are false
(unless they are about making "Move" work with non-static methods (dammit!), in which case they are self-evidently true).
