IDEA crashes with JDK 1.6

Is there any hs_err* file in the IntelliJ IDEA bin directory after the crash?
Please attach one if you find one.

Hi All,

I have IDEA 4.5.4 and have been using JDK 1.5.0_13 with no problems.

I have recently tried JDK 1.6.0_03 with odd behavior.

When I try to change the target JDK in the Project Settings dialog,
IDEA simply goes away! (i.e. crashes without any error dialogs etc.).
This is reproducible.

I'm running on a Dell Precision, XP Pro, 2Gig memory.

I don't have the ability to upgrade to the latest IDEA (yet), so I
would like to find out if this is a known problem or if anyone has any
suggestions.

Yes, there is. I just recreated the problem and have attached the error file.

there seem to exist several VM bugs related to zip files crashing the vm
here is what i could find

This one is marked as "fixed" although the comments seem to contradict it
