Compare files

Hi.

I must be blind.

I can't find "Compare Files".

I found it under Keymaps in the view menu, but even adding a shortcut to it
and pressing it didn't produce anything.

Help?

Amnon

select two files in, say project view, then right click, compare files.

I liked the Diff plugin better, as it allows me to compare a file from the
project with a backup or an old version I keep on the side.

Rarely will I have 2 files in the same project that are similar. If that's
the case, it means I would have been copying and pasting code instead of
using OO.

My 2 Cents for this:
I work in a new job where the source management of the man who worked
previously in my position was a mess.
I had to figure out which sources where the newest ones by comparing the
local files on his hd with sources inside an (outdated) cvs repository.
I would have been twice the work if I haven't had the "compare each
other" function of eclipse.

I'm glad that IDEA has now something similar. BTW: is it possible like
in eclipse not only to compare 2 files but 2 directories?

Just a suggestion: it would be helpful if you could compare files in the Commander window; that is: compare a file in the left panel with a file in the right panel.

Good idea !

Gosh, I was also looking for the "Compare files" and did not find it. How about a context menu entry "Compare to..." which opens a file dialog to select the second file.
Also "Compare files..." on the "Tool" menu seems like a logical place for me.

It should work in Commander: select file on left and on the right and
'Compare files' will compare them. Remove selection from one panel and
select two in another and 'Compare files' will act as it does in
ProjectView.

Great !!!!! Excellent
I did not even check that it existed. I should have checked.

This feature will make me use the Commander more often ;)

Thank you
