PhpStorm as portable?

Hi Marina,

You should be able to do this:
1) Download ZIP instead of EXE
2) Unpack it to a desired path
3) Edit bin/idea.properties if necessary (to point to a custom profile location).

I've bought a license to PHPStorm 5.0.2. Where can I download ZIP instead of EXE for 5.0.2 (I have the same problem with admin rights as Marina has)?

If I may suggest, JetBrains should make the portable version more prominent (as in not hidden...). Add a link on the download page maybe?

For every update I do replace the .exe in the url with .zip but you have to know this pattern.

Is JetBrains discouraging the discovery of the portable version?

It's Jan 2017, same thing here. There's no clear indication that you can download a .zip instead of .exe... just replaced .exe with .zip as suggested and downloaded successfully.

I do not believe that JetBrains even read our comments.

Need a portable version for college classes where computers in the classroom are deepfrozen and I don't want to be always downloading and installing into the computer. I could just run it from my USB drive.

For the record, as of 4/22/2018, current version is at https://download.jetbrains.com/webide/PhpStorm-2018.1.1.zip 

As of April 2019, that solution doesn't work anymore.

Also, would prefer a JB Toolbox portable with all the apps in it portable as well.

I tried to download 2019.2.1, while changing the .exe with .zip, but I get a access denied. Is the zip variant still available?

Try using .win.zip extension
