Tool Windows Transparency?

What the heck is that setting? I opened up a bunch of tool windows, and tried to make them transparent by making them lose focus, but every time I click outside the window, I get a 'ding' telling me that I can't unfocus the window.

Which tool windows are we talking about here?

Why is it that this setting is only available on windows?

Thanks

Not sure about the windows question, but check out this thread. Like I said, I'm not sure if this will work in a non-Windows environment (but I guess I think that it would).

As far as I know, this feature of IDEA uses JNI to access the transparency extension of Windows, which is only available since Windows 2000.

Don't be too disappointed, however. I played a lot with it, and found that it doesn't help at all. It is hard to read the covered area unless the window on top is VERY transparent, but then you can't read that unless you make it active. And of course, you can't click into the lower window unless you move the transparent one away. For me it boils down to the fact that you can't use screen space for more than one window at a time, at least not efficiently.
There is no replacement for real estate.
