replacing in selected text area

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum. I'm using build 551 and am new to IDEA but am absolutely in love with this IDE.. anyway my question...

Normally what I am used to doing when I want to do a "replace" is highlight the particular portion of code that I want to replace then hit ctrl-R. This correctly brings up the replace dialog with what I highlighted in the replace field. The problem is I often then went to get focus back on the editor to be able to highlight a portion of selected text in order to replace just in that area. IDEA, however, doesn't let me leave the replace dialog box to get to the editor. Is this option available in a different build? It would be great if once I'm in the replace dialog box I could then go and select a portion of text to do my replace in.
