EAP 661: Where is idea.log ??

It's still in the log-subdirectory of your IDEA-system directory. When you did not change the settings in IDEA.bat it's in a directory called .IntellijIdea30 in your user's directory.

You can find it in your home directory under the .IntellijIdea30 directory

On Linux that would be ~/.IntellijIdea30/system/log/idea.log
