IncorrectOperationException when using refactor/encapsulate fields

I am getting the the exception "com.intellij.util.IncorrectOperationException: "anIn,out,ioType" is not an identifier." when trying to use the refactor/ encapsulate fields menu option.

I am running on SuSE linux 10 using IDEA 5.1, java 1.5.0_03. If anyone has an idea or has encountered a workaround, please let me know.
