how to change other.xml config file

Hi

I'd like to add a lot of External Resources to the IDEA settings. Instead of going through the UI, I tried the following:

- close IDEA
- open other.xml in the config/options folder
- add more elements to - save and close other.xml file - restart IDEA - reopen other.xml -->]]> the newly added elements are gone

Can someone please help me on this? That would be very nice!
