Move caret in sets of 4 spaces

Hi,

So instead of tabs I am using 4 spaces to simulate tabs.  The problem, though, is that moving the caret left or right only moves in 1 space, which often messes up my alignment.  Also, when I want to delete an identation, it deletes only 1 space as well.  Is there a way to move the caret in a set of spaces, to simulate true tab movement?
