Disappearing cursor
已回答
I am running RubyMine version 7.1.4.
I am having a problem where every couple hours or so my cursor disappears. I do not know specific steps to reproduce.
When it is happening and I click somewhere it highlights the line in yellow. I can't type anything in this state.
I have to either wait a long time for the cursor to return or completely restart the IDE (which takes too long but that's another issue).
I turned on power save mode and that didn't help.
Any suggestions?

Hmm I have a Mac with a built-in ATI graphics card, no NVIDIA in use here... maybe this is a common graphics driver problem?
For me this seems to be tied to the "Find in Path..." feature as mentioned before.
I have since noticed that while typing in the code windows is blocked/invisible, if I bring up the "Find in Path..." dialog again then everything I typed is now appended in the search dialog.
As a workaround to restarting the IDE, bring up the "Find in Path..." dialog and close it again to see if it clears the issue.
Not saying it is not something that can be fixed in IDEA but it is not pure IDEA's issue at least for me.
As it was happening only on one instance of IDEA on one PC and did not have issue with other 2 instances.
it took time for me to find out what causes this.
don't forget to upvote my answer on stackoverflow.com
as it is related to intellij engine i am sharing the link:

once again don't forget to up-vote.
When will this be solved????
running on 2018.2.5 - build #PS-182.4892.16
My cursor keeps disapearing I have to go to a different application and back to PHPStorm to get my cursor back. Very annoying.
edit - macOS Mojave 10.14.1
Hello Matthew,
could you please check how it goes in PS 2018.3.1 with the bundled JDK? In case the problem persists please report an issue to https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA
Also having this issue.

I am working in multiple windows (could be related) and when I cmd + ` to the other window and back, it fixes itself. Maybe somehow the cursor gets stuck on the second window, but I don't know how to reproduce, and it happens fairly sporadically.
We have several similar requests so could you please add your votes and details about your cases:
https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-191854

Workaround
Cmd+Shift+N (New Scratch File menu) -> `Plain Text` -> [Enter]
New scratch file will be created, and cursor will be restored.
Enjoy
I have the same issue with PyCharm ( it is now March 2020 ). Mac OsX Mojave.
It randomly dissappears and if i start switching between some apps some random stuff, sometimes it comes back.
this is just ridiculous. and it is more ridiculous because this issue was raised a fwe years ago.
Updated to latest version of WebStorm 2020.1 and the issue is happening even more than before, wondering if is a bug in the version, when opening split vertical, you are only able to type in one tab.
The issue goes away after quitting the application but having to do this several times a day is really annoying, makes you want to switch back to vs code and stop paying :)
ma ming, @... there're several known problems with the cursor, could you please check whether they look related to your case:
https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-215477
https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-166174
In case they don't and the issue persists in case all the 3rd party plugins are disabled it'd be better to submit a new issue on the platform tracker: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA
I've been using IntelliJ IDEs for years now, including Android Studio, AppCode, IDEA, WebStorm along with Datagrip. The cursor issue is one of those bugs I have learnt "to live with", and usually it gets solved by switching the focus to another app and switching back. However today, some minutes ago, my workaround did not work so I desperately ended up here.
IDE: AppCode
OS: macOS Catalina
FYI the workaround proposed by @Semyen Soldatenko made the trick for me.

Hate to be the "me too" guy, but this issue happens quite frequently to me as well, particularly when using remote sessions and using popup windows or actions (like importing dependencies or finding in files). As soon as I find a reliable way to reproduce it I'm gonna open a report.
What helped me out: I have a Logitech mouse and I had to install G Hub software. After that - the disappearing cursor issue was gone
I realized that it was not intelliJ issue because there were issues in browser - such as no hover effects
