How to get Ruby On Rails, MongoDB and RubyMine installed

I've been reading a book and found the installation instructions were very poor. I've written up some steps to follow if you have Ubuntu Linux installed (fresh installation) and want to work with RubyMine, Ruby on Rails and MongoDB.

Hopefully it will save someone some time!
