changed settings not being saved
Hello all,
with the past few EAP releases I noticed that changing font+color settings are not being written to disk. How to reproduce:
1) go to File->Settings->Editor->Colors and Fonts->Language Defaults.
2) Take the current scheme and "Save As" to another name.
3) Make a change to a setting in the new name scheme.
4) Notice that the change did have an impact in the current editor window.
5) Exit and restart Intellij. Notice the change made has been lost.
6) Diff the .icls file produced by Intellij. The file differ by just the scheme name:
nrinydev$ diff alan.icls alan2.icls
1c1

Any errors in idea.log (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/entries/23352446)? Do you apply the changes in the dialog?
I had tried starting with a virgin install and had the same issue....that's when I got around to posting here.
I have to admit I just assumed this was some small oops that would be corrected before release...

What specific changes do you make? Do you have an open project?
Can you make a screencast of the problem showing that the setting doesn't persist after IDE restart and attach idea.log?

I happen to be changing the language defaults -> markup tag so that it doesn't change the background on XML tags. I do have a project open and am editing an pom.xml file from maven. I've tried just deselecting the background color box and also deselecting the background color and use "Default Text" setting. The change takes effect in the current session but doesn't survive a restart.
I'm on a linux box, so there's no screencast abilities. Yes, the apply button does become active and I do click it.
No errors or any mention of the setting change are in the log file.

Thanks, the issue seems to be specific to Language Defaults, we have it logged at https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-137266 .
I've had this problem for several EAP releases. This setting does not get saved:

Some issue in 2018.3.4 of Webstorm. This is getting annoying so quickly. Never had this issue before. Also while changing the color scheme. I even started using another ide because I wasn't able to fix it.
Please provide steps to recreaate the issue plus your idea.log (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241085-Locating-IDE-log-files). Please don't paste log here, upload it to some file server and provide a link
Running into somewhat of a similar issue with phpstorm. Everytime i boot up up the IDE, I need to change the antialising editor option from greyscale to subpixel. I am not sure if this is due to the settings thats being not being saved to repository.
