IDEA 123.168 Acts Like a New Installation

Hi,

I retrieved and installed the 123.168 EAP release and when I launched it, it asked me if I wanted to import my old settings or start from scratch. I thought something might have gone wrong, so I "force quit" it (on Mac OS X) and relaunched. The second time it didn't ask me, but was a vanilla installation (but without walking me through the usual first-time set-up wizard).

I quit then and relaunched 123.165 and all was as before.

Is this intended? If I want continuity do I import my previous settings? If so, will I get 100% carry-over? (I tend to need to spend a lot of time getting things as big and complicated as IDEA just the way I want them and having them revert is something I avoid as much as possible.)

OS: Mac OS 10.7.5
Java: 1.6.0_37
IDEA: 123.168 UE

No, not intended... Didn't do that to me at least...

Hi Randall,

Tried to reproduce the problem but no luck so far. Have you modified your config home location at the old build settings ($IDEA_HOME/bin/idea.properties)? Please check if 'IntelliJIdea12' is set as 'idea.paths.selector ' at $IDEA_HOME/Contents/Info.plist

No, I stick with all stock everything.

Tell me... Is there a modifier key thing that tells IDEA to start up as a brand new installation? I might have been leaning on one (or more) of them. That occassionally trips me up launching Firefox, which has such a thing.

I'm not aware of any such setting.
