Hello Tom,

Where can I download the EAP build for Windows packed as .zip?

In the download just replace the .exe suffix with .zip and it works.

This does not work for the community build:

http://confluence.jetbrains.net/display/IDEADEV/IDEAXEAP

For http://download.jetbrains.com/idea/ideaIC-103.59.zip you'll get 404.

You keep asking this and I keep replying the same thing: we do not publish
the zip distribution for IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition.

Yes, I thought that I already asked it, but did not find my question any
more. I can't remember having got any answer.

Could you please also tell why? Especially for the EAP version it is easier
to replace a directory structure than installing a new version where I don't
know what files will get overwritten. Thanks in advance.

Every additional distribution format for each EAP build has a non-zero cost
for us in terms of download storage space and time needed to release EAP
builds.

Note that in order to ensure correct operation of IntelliJ IDEA, you need
to install each EAP build in a clean directory.

No, what he means is you download the exe and change the extension
locally so your zip program opens it instead of running it.

This doesn't work either. Our installer is compressed with the LZMA algorith
as implemented in NSIS; I'm not aware of any zip programs capable of unpacking
such files.

7zip also opens the exe.
